Yuneec Typhoon H Plus Drone:
A 4K UHD 1” C23 camera, a dedicated android installed ST16 remote controller with a 7” touchscreen display showing live camera footage at 720P, the Yuneec Typhoon H Plus is definitely one of the best hexacopter camera drones that you can get your hands on, in my opinion.
The great thing about it is the great price that it comes for when you think that it’s one of the best professional videography camera drones out there in the market right now.
Yuneec International, The Company:
Yuneec International is a Chinese Drone manufacturing organization founded in 1999. It has always been an industry leader when it comes to electronic aviation and drone creation.
Their variety of high-quality drones are being used worldwide. Yuneec Typhoon H Plus is no exception and it truly shows this through the wide arsenal of features it brings to the table.
That’s why you should definitely consider it for your videography needs.

What Are the Features and Benefits of Yuneec Typhoon H plus?
To fully understand what we’re getting with the Typhoon H Plus and how it addresses our cinematography needs, let’s take a look at some of the great features that it comes with.
Features:
Aircraft Design:
The design of the aircraft despite its being a hexacopter, is compact and perfect for professional videography with a set of landing gears and a lightweight build. Overall, the design is great and looks incredible while flying.
Professional Recording Quality:
The Professional 1” C23 Camera that Yuneec incorporated with this drone is a 20MP camera capable of recording 4K quality video at 60fps and takes beautiful still images thanks to the amazing gimbal support of this aircraft.
This makes the Typhoon H Plus the ideal drone for professional aerial videographers
Speed:
The remote controller comes with variable speed settings which can be changed depending upon the requirements of the pilot.
The normal speed is around 50kph and in the sport’s settings, the speed can crank up to 75kph which is great for moving objects shots.
Ultrasonic Sensors:
To avoid obstructions and obstacles, Yuneec Typhoon H plus comes with two ultrasonic sensors that can sense objects up to 5 m and stop the drone before it comes into contact with an object.
You can also utilize Intel RealSense technology for hurdle avoidance as that is also available in the Typhoon H Plus.
ST16 Remote Controller:
Instead of having to use a tablet or smartphone with a company application, you can use the dedicated ST16 remote controller with a 2.4 GHz frequency for drone control and a 5.8 GHz live camera feed transfer rate for amazing live video observation on the 7” 720P screen.

Benefits:
If you are re still doubtful about whether Typhoon H Plus is the camera drone you need in your life, don’t worry because I’ve also created a list of additional benefits that come with this epic drone. Let’s take a look at each of them.
360 Degree Gimbal:
In my experience with camera drones, the gimbal is usually what causes the problem. You have to manually adjust the pitch and roll of the drone in order to maneuver the gimbal appropriately.
This isn’t required with the Typhoon H Plus. It comes with 360 Gimbal Movement which makes recording 360-degree shots easily without any sort of additional drone movement at all.
Flight Range:
Flight ranges are always a problem when you use drone cameras for professional aerial cinematography. After a certain distance, you aren’t able to control the drone properly.
The Typhoon H Plus deals with this, thanks to a long flight range of 1240ft height and about a mile distance which makes sure you get the best shots even at far distances.
Fold ability:
Hexacopters are usually huge and comes in various sizes. Even the hexacopters that I’ve owned require their own personal space and can’t just be placed on a mantle or a shelf like a quadcopter.
When it comes to Yuneec Typhoon H Plus, you can fold the arms of the hexacopter so that it can be stored in a small space like any quadcopter which shows that Typhoon H Plus comes with all the benefits of a hexacopter with the storage requirement of a compact quadcopter.
Smart Flight Modes:
The camera drones that I’ve owned have had their fair share of smart and intelligent flight modes in order to control the movement of the drone mid-shooting.
But none of the drones come even close to Typhoon H Plus when it comes to smart flight modes. Ranging from object focus to following the pilot as well as safely automatic return to home and curve cable cam modes, you can choose whichever satisfies your videography requirements.
How to fly Yuneec Typhoon H Plus?
To truly experience the amazing flight and recording capabilities of the Typhoon H Plus, you need to learn the flight basics first.
Let’s talk about what you need to do.
- First off, you need to place the battery in and place the quick install propellers onto the motors.
- Next, you’re going to turn on the ST16 and calibrate the drone and gimbal.
- Now, you’re going to use the left and right analog sticks to move the drone.
- Make sure you fly the drone in non-restricted airspace with lots of space and movement availability.
- You can use the retract button to retract the landing gears, use speed settings to change the sensitivity of the drone. The gimbal pitch setting of this drone is the best out there.
- You can choose different flight modes on the ST16 and after a good flying session, you can manually or use the RTH mode to land the drone safely onto the ground, folding the arms and applying the gimbal guard.
This is how you’re going to start off with your professional videography and flight journey with the Yuneec Typhoon H Plus Drone.
Pros:
Moderate Price – Despite being an amazing professional camera drone, the Typhoon H Plus comes for a cool price which entry-level videographers can easily get their hands on.
Dedicated Remote Control – Typhoon H Plus really makes a big impact on the electronic aviation industry with the dedicated Android-based touchscreen remote control which comes with multiple flight modes and functionalities.
Gimbal Movement – The Typhoon H Plus comes with 360-degree gimbal movement which is not a factor in the INSPIRE 2.
Compactness – Even though it is a hexacopter, the foldability makes the drone just as compact if not more than the INSPIRE 2 from DJI.
Cons:
Lesser Range – The range although not that much of a difference but is still lesser than the DJI INSPIRE 2.
Lower Flight Speed – There is a slight flight speed difference between the drones with Typhoon H Plus taking a beat down in this end.
Conclusion:
Intel Realsense technology is an X-Factor for me.
Ultimately, looking at all the remarkable benefits, features, advantages, and also factoring in the pros and cons, in my opinion, the Yuneec Typhoon H Plus simply offers great price to value ratio and helps provide you with a better overall videography experience.
